In my mind

What do my eyes say about me?

Posted in Random by abena on February 5th, 2008

I’m Brown

I have brown eyes. Brown is the color of the earth. My eyes symbolize my comforting and fostering nature. I am stable, grounding, sophisticated, considerate, conventional and orderly. People may consider me to be cozy or warm. People feel safe when they are with me. Some words to describe me: reliability, elegance, security, healing, homely, grounding, foundation, and earthly.

Well my eyes are dark brown to be exact.

Am I the above mentioned words?

Maybe it is just a load of bullshit.

Who knows?

The Hal Linton Experience

Posted in Personal experience by abena on January 28th, 2008

Well last night I went to an unbelievable great show…..The Hal Linton Experience….I am still in a daze

Hal went primary school with me and believe you me this guy has immense talent - songwriter, singer, producer, musician - and he is destined to go places…..

He reaches out to the audience, when he performs you can’t but be absorbed and consumed with the music….

I was on a high…..a musical high that is….

Pulsating rhythms and infectious beats, I couldn’t help but move my feet!

To my friend of my younger years, continue to spread your melodies and rhythms….

Music is a universal language which crosses many boundaries….so on your musical journey I wish you much sucess…

The below video is an old performance at Limelight Cafe, Barbados……

What can I say? 100% Bajan……

the people X-pressed the need for change…

Posted in Barbados, Expressions, Random by abena on January 17th, 2008

The only thing constant in life is change…..

When I awoke this morning there was a coolness in the breeze…..a freshness in the air…..

Well elections is over in Barbados and the people have spoken….. Congratulations on The Democratic Labour Party for winning this elections.

I casted my X in an effort to contribute to this democratic process.

People will have many things to say in regards to the extent of the campaigning, who spent too much money and where this money came from but I shall not get involve in that type of chatter. What I have realised is that politics isn’t dirty but it is the people who we elect to represent us who have the capability to make it dirty.

At the end of the day, when surrounded by loads of money and special benefits and alowances, it appears humans require a high level of morality and integrity. Some people when given power just become greedy. Don’t get me wrong I do feel people do get into politics initially for the good of the people….but somewhere down the line things become shady and tainted.

So do I have any views on the new government?

Well, all I hope is that they carry our small nation towards the future with an appropriate vision and purpose that will benefit the majority of people who reside and work in this country…

I shall continue to X-press myself!!

All the best….

Posted in Random, reflection by abena on January 7th, 2008

Hey,

It’s a new year, a new beginning….actually no a continuation of all things achieved or not achieved in 2008…..

People go around wishing people “Happy New Year”….I wonder if they truly mean what the are saying or just merely stating a cliche…yes that’s the word it is a cliche…

Anyway, I would like to wish you all the best….best by whose standards? Well yours of course…

Well I don’t have or make any superficial resolutions…..but for those who do I hope you stick to them….

Oh, I have an intent (not resolution) to try and blog more often…..
